Day Nine

Friday, July 14th, 2017
High Shoals Falls, Hiawassee, GA
The drive to the trail head involved crossing a stream:
We made it to the trail:
The 2.4 mile trail leads to two large waterfalls. We encountered a few challenges along the trail:
We took breaks by the stream:
We made it to the first falls:
Off to hike to the second waterfall:
We decided to hike to the top of the waterfall:
Time to make our way back.
We made it!:
We decided to drive to another trail head and check out Anna Ruby Falls. On the drive we came across the Appalachian Trail at Mile 0:
Mommy was excited to walk on the longest hiking-only footpath in the world:

Anna Ruby Falls
We stopped at the visitors center:
And found the trail head:
We hiked the short but steep paved trail enjoying the stream along the way:
We made it to Anna Ruby Falls a double waterfall:
After the hike Rachel got stung by a wasp:
We got some great medicine from the visitors center and the pain stopped pretty quickly.

We then decided to explore the Interpretive Trail:
We enjoyed a picnic lunch and played in the stream:

We looked for "gold" with mommy:
We found out it was mica.

We had a great day!
