Week Two Day Five Trail Adventure

March 27, 2020
Week Two Day Five Trail Adventure:

Longleaf Flatwoods Reserve
(Not our favorite trail but we made the best of it anyway).

This was our first time at this reserve area.

We hadn't quite decided on which trails to take since this was our first time here but after some deliberation over the trail map we made our decision.

The plan: white trail to yellow trail and then finish the white trail loop. About a 2.8 distance.

Now that's a big pine-cone!

There really wasn't much on the trail so we took time to appreciate even the little things. These little white flowers looked a bit like fireworks.

It was pretty scarce out there so we really had to look for just about anything.

Yup another big pine-cone!

We spotted several deer beds and some deer prints.

We made it back to the white trail loop. Do you think we will see anything awesome on this trail?

The girls decided to test their "strength" and "lift up the tree".

The scenery the entire white loop trail...did I mention how hot it was by now?

A moment of dread when we thought we had gone the wrong way and had crossed into the red trail (which was much farther away from the car).

A moment of gratitude once we checked the map and walked about 20 feet forward to find the white trail to the right and the red trail veering off to the left!

Rachel ran to the car in an energy boost from pure delight that we made it back to the car!
