Week Five Day One Trail Adventure: Little Orange Creek Preserve - Kathy Cantwell Trail.
First
time here at this preserve. If we do the whole trail it is a 2 mile
point to point trail (4 miles). We are the only ones here (✔️ social distancing).
We got an early start today because radar shows storms are coming this afternoon. It's all clear right now so off we go.
We found this coconut looking thing (?).
The girls tried to open it up but when they got through one layer it was pretty stinky.
There were quite a few wasps along the way.
Several places to take a break:
Cacti with flowers! There were quite a few in bloom.
Do you see the purple flowers?

More pretty along the way:

The swamps had tiny frogs. We kept our eyes open for possible dangers (alligators and snakes!).

Look what was out here at mile one:
The observation deck was nice, but not much out there today to observe.
The deck was a nice surprise though.
⚠️ A very large 🐍 snake crossed the path right at our feet! We ran and didn't get a picture so here is a pic of a huge dragon fly we saw along the way.

There was a storm brewing in the distance so we cut it a little short. We had a nice 3 mile adventure and they were hot and tired:

The trail was very well maintained and marked. I think I will be coming back here again :
