We started off the day at the Bierstadt Trail head:
We hiked 3.1 miles climbing 566 feet. It was a pretty climb up with lots of views of the mountains:
We reached Bierstadt Lake on the grassy side first:
We decided to hike over to the other side of the lake:
The other side of Bierstadt Lake:Rachel lost her walking stick so we all searched for a new one for Rachel: The lake was nice but the breeze was very cold so we did not stay long. We took a different trail down that was pretty rocky but we did well with no problems. Rachel found this along the trail: She decided it needed one more large stick to make it complete. At the end of the hike we took a bus back to the original trail head where are car was parked and headed to the Jr Rangers station. There was a puppet show about things that can be dangerous in the park (poison ivy, bears, some snakes, etc.,). Then it was time to meet with a Park Ranger: Recite our Jr. Ranger pledge: And receive our Jr. Ranger Badges: They were both so proud to be Jr. Rangers.
We found a nice picnic table right next to Glacier Creek in the park and had lunch.
On a cute/funny note: we were driving by a campsite that had a few Teepees. Rachel said"mommy what are those? ".
I replied that they were teepees. Rachel said, "Oh, I never seen peepees before!"
When we got back to the hotel the girls enjoyed the pool one last time (tomorrow we leave for Boulder, Co).
