We drove to the Mt. Yonah, a mountain ridge in the Chattahoochee National Forest between the towns of Cleveland and Helen Georgia.
We located the trail head:
Scoped out the mountain (elevation 3,166′) we would be climbing:
We got prepared for the 4.4 mile hike:
The girls climbed a practice rock:
The trail was very strenuous (rated difficult) but we made it to the half-way point:
After a short break we hiked on enjoying some steep off trail climbs:
We made it to the top of Mt. Yonah:
We explored the top ridge:
We were brave on the rocky edge:
Enjoying the views:
We hiked to the middle of the mountain top to a grassy clearing:
The views on the other side of the mountain:
We made it back down the mountain:
We were tired and ready to relax in the cabin hot tub!
