Week Seven Day Two and Day Three

April 28,2020

Week Seven Day Two Trail Adventure: Project Habitat / San Felasco.

Today it was just Luna and mom (the girls had school projects and an abundance of school work).

Project Habitat is a a paved path near San Felasco. I have run on this path but never walked it, pausing to notice the habitat. It's funny how you can drive, bike, or run somewhere and never really see the abundance of nature all around us, right here for us to enjoy.

We did a little bit of a trail in the woods first. Luna was so happy to be out on the trails! She looks forward to this everyday. Anytime I go near the door, car keys, or hiking gear she gets super excited.

Swamps on either side of the path with pretty flowers to enjoy.

Luna and mom had a nice time together, but they missed the girls.

All smiles and happy to be out in nature:

Blackberries are everywhere. Although most of them are not ripe yet:

There are lots of flowers and moth and butterfly attracting plants on this trail:

I decided to review some safety plans.

Q: What do you do if there is a bear on the path?
Their answer: It depends on what type of bear. If 🐻 then make yourself big and scary. They then demonstrated. Luna thought this was funny:

Q: What do you do if there is a Rattle Snake on the path.
A: Lizzy said back away:

Earlier this morning Rachel found out that she was selected as citizen of the year at her school! She had a class meeting while we were on the trail and her teacher congratulated her:

The girls started singing the pink panther theme music. This is Rachel's end expression to the theme music:

And Lizzy's performance pose for the end of the Pink Panther theme music:

Final end of trail pic. There was not a whole lot to see on this trail (after some of the other exciting trails with alligators and snakes it didn't compete).

We still had a good time out in nature.
