Week Seven Day Four Trail Adventure: Four Creeks Preserve.
Our first time at this preserve:

Ready to explore!

Danger Snakes! Extra emotion provided by Lizzy:

I said "You brought your Catching Fire lunchbox." She responded "No, it's Hunger Games mom." Yes, indeed I stand corrected:

The blue trail had some flooding but it was passable.

It got pretty deep in places:

What do you think they are doing? Any guesses? There is a clue in the picture:

Crossing the boundary line:

Halfway through there was another trail-head. Now we are on the yellow trail. Just 1.5 miles to go:

Lizzy dropped her pickle on the ground. The actress came out to express the anguish of the loss. Yes, this is acting. A little over the top:

Although the trails are supposed to intersect with four creeks, this is the only one we saw. Rachel counted the flooding on the blue trail as a creek. . . 🤔could be?:

Do you see the snake tail? Prior to this pic laying right across the trail (I almost stepped on it) there was a snake. It actually appeared to be dead. From a distance we tossed a small stick toward it and it didn't move. We tossed another and nothing. One last check, with a very long stick we prodded it (thinking it was dead) and suddenly it slithered quickly off into the brush (hence the bad pic of just his tail). Apparently it was taking a nap in the sun!:

The end of the trail pic. Not much emotion here because the trail was easy (3 miles) and well marked, but aside from the snake there was not much of interest. I saw two butterflies in the distance and only a couple of flowers on this entire hike.
That said, It was a beautiful day 🌤️with a little breeze and we did have a nice time together. There were several other trails off the two trails we did take that were closed. This is a new Preserve so perhaps they will open up the other trails. We will be back if/when that happens:

The major downside of this trail is that there is no parking! None! My husband dropped us off a couple of hours ago. Luna loves car rides almost as much as our trail adventures and we were happy to have a ride home:
