Week Six Day Three Trail Adventure

April 22, 2020

Week Six Day Three Trail Adventure: Gores Landing Wildlife Management Area:

This is our first time here. We saw this little trail sign. We. . .well I was pretty sure it is not the trail we were looking for, but we will check it out later:

I always take a couple of pics just in case. When I was looking at the pics after we got home I saw this little insightful exchange. What were they planning??

Just a few steps away was this Trailhead. Moods were a little rough because Luna's leash was left at home (mama was not happy). Lizzy used a long sleeve shirt she had in the car as a makeshift leash. It actually worked pretty well.

We "decided" a little separation might calm the stormy moods:

We came across another sign quite a ways in on the trail (it is actually a forest road). The girls said it was a record for the number of trail-head pics!

Gravel mounds made the trail a little more interesting.

Yes, I realize palm trees are common in Florida, but did you know they are my favorite tree? In fact, although I grew up in upstate NY, Palm Trees have always been my favorite tree:

There were a few patches of flowers along the way:

I stopped to take a picture of this little colorful insect and my daughter said that this is a Velvet Ant. She said that she watched a YouTube guy purposely get stung by one because it has one of the most painful insect stings!! Although it is called a red velvet ant (and is also known as a cow killer ant), they are actually wasps. Lizzy played the video for me and it looked (rather sounded because I was driving) very painful indeed:

We made it back safely and decided to check out the trail / eagle scout project:

It was a short trail with nothing too much. However, a green spider under a leaf got their attention. Happy Earth Day!
