Week Five Day Five Trail Adventure: Newman's Conservation Area Hatchet Creek Tract.
This climbing mound was in the parking lot:

Our first time hiking this trail:
Before we saw this leggy critter we saw a large wild turkey:
Of course there were enticing vines
Deer!
Lots of opportunities to enjoy Hatchet Creek
⚠️
Right after this very moment we encountered a snake. It was small and
yellowish in color; not quite sure what it was, but we managed to avoid
it and we kept our eyes and ears open for any more:
This butterfly was even more beautiful in person!
This Cotton Mouth snake made my heart beat a little faster! Gratefully, we were all at a safe distance up on a bridge.

Rachel was still, albeit, very carefully engaging in exploration.

What!? Another shotgun shell? Wait didn't we see a sign. . .
Yes, no hunting!
Lizzy thought this would be a good photo op for the "fans":
Lots of energy left!

Great place to relax a bit.
Relaxing:

Oh no, the bridge is out! Going back would add an additional 2 miles
After much deliberation and exploration of ALL our options we made our decision. Yes, we made it safely on the other side
A much less dangerous critter:

The "home stretch". Rachel decided to run it in!:

We
had gone 5.3 miles, matching our previous longest hike during these
five weeks of adventures. The girls decided that they wanted this Most
Adventurous hike to be the longest as well, so we actually walked around
a bit to make it 5.5 miles!
They also decided on a victory climb:
What an adventure!!
